So What Is CBD Oil?
CBD Oil (cannabidiol oil) is one of the main medicinal compounds in cannabis. There are two different varieties of CBD Oil. The one I am talking about in this post is the hemp-based CBD Oil. The other is the marijuana-based CBD oil which would be purchased at a dispensary. Although Hemp and Marijuana are different varieties of the same plant, they both produce CBD. While marijuana-based CBD contains THC which causes a “high” feeling, hemp-based oil does not (or at least contains negligible amounts). The hemp-based variety typically used to make CBD oil legally cannot have more than .3% by volume of THC.
Basically, CBD oil or hemp oil contains the benefits of the cannabis plant without producing the potential drawbacks of psychoactive compounds typically found from Marijuana.
So what are the known benefits of CBD Oil?

- Reduces Inflammation
- Reduces Oxidative Stress
- Help for Schizophrenia
- Promotes Healthy Weight
- Improves Heart Health

So how can one natural oil be responsible for relieving or curing so many unrelated ailments?
Well it all starts with the endocannabinoid system which is a fascinating biological system that plays many important roles in the human body. It was discovered through researching the effects of cannabis on the body.
The endocannabinoid system is made up of endocannabinoids and their receptors which are found literally everywhere in the body including the brain, organs, glands and immune cells. While this system works uniquely in different parts of the body, its end goal is to create homeostasis or balance.
An easy way to understand how the endocannabinoid system works is to think of it as a lock and key mechanism. The cannabinoid receptors are the locks, and the endocannabinoids are the keys. When the endocannabinoids bind to the cannabinoid receptors, they are able to produce physiological responses necessary for keeping cells alive and healthy.
Supplementing with cannabis products like this CBD oil can help improve our endocannabinoid system and its functioning. Phytocannabinoids (cannabinoids from plants) bind to both the CB1 and CB2 receptors and stimulate them to produce beneficial effects and enhance the functioning of the endocannabinoid system. Research studies have proven that high or low levels of endocannabinoids are linked to many diseases. There are various ways to help the endocannabinoid system maintain balance which include:
- Eat foods rich in polyphenols like nutmeg and turmeric.
- Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids like walnuts, seafood, and spinach.
- Exercise, which gives us that “natural high” caused by the release of anandamide.
- And finally, supplement with this CBD oil.
So wait, is this stuff legal?
