This morning, when I gazed into our Gabby, our Scottish Terriers;) eyes I sensed something was going to be different about today. Later as she waddled to the recliner, I heard her labored breathing and understood the gravity of the situation. The decision about what to do overwhelmed me as I knew the procedures to keep her going would only be temporary. I decided to take my time getting ready so I could process a bit more and before I was finished something told me it was too late. I was right. She had passed peacefully laying in her favorite recliner — the one with the broken foot rest which made it easy for her to climb up on. She had given up the fight and decided she was finished.
My heart is broken as I think of all of our memories. I will miss her cuddles and her nuzzling me when she wanted food or to go for a walk. I will even miss her incessant barking at random squirrels, cats and other potentially dangerous criminals 🙂 in our backyard as well as her waking me up at 4:40am for food Every.Single.Morning. She loved food more than I do!
Embrace The Uncertainty and Listen
I think God sends us signals and gives us permission when it’s time to move on or to experience something new. Sometimes the signals are nudges and sometimes a painful sting to force us to wake up. It’s his way of guiding us. Today God gave Gabby the permission to move on and me the nudge to let her go. She is at peace now and is no longer suffering. Whatever it is for you – embrace the uncertainty and listen to God’s nudges.
Never Miss Out!
